  • MPLC is the legal way to show movies and TV in public or commercial spaces across the globe. If you know the music business then think of us as PRS for movies and TV.  Our business has been running for 30 years and we are the number one trusted partner to studios and producers for public performance licensing.  We work with every major Hollywood studio and hundreds of independents and our aim is to allow companies to use great movie and programming content while ensuring that content creators get paid for their work.

This is a new role to grow our royalty renewal business. The way that companies use movies and content has changed and grown over the last decade and that is reflected in the royalties we collect from new customers. This is the first time we have looked at our existing customers to review the royalties they pay and ensure they reflect the value our customers get from our rights holders content.

Head of Renewal Growth

This is the job in two bullets :

  • Maximize the royalties we collect for our licence holders on renewals. Add a minimum 10% to the value of the UK and USA royalty renewal book in your first year.
  • Do this while protecting our brand and remaining customer focused.

This is a Growth Role that will be informed by information, insight and

data but it is not a data analyst role. We do expect you will want data

to help inform your decisions so when creating this role we have also

created the budget for two data analysts that could be in your team if

needed.

We are looking for:

  • Growth of the renewals portfolio in the UK and US by the KPI set out when you join,
  • Making decisions on a daily basis to optimise licence renewal pricing. We send hundreds of renewal invoices out every week and we are looking to optimise our pricing from day one of you starting in the role.
  • Building great relationships with all your key stakeholders and helping manage the communications on licence fees to customers, internal teams and management,
  • and using data to clearly communicate and evidence the progress we are making on behalf of our rights holders.

What we are not looking for:

  • Someone who builds a load of spreadsheets/reporting or analysis but does not take action.
  • Providing recommendations and relying on others to make the decisions —making decisions is a key part of your role.
  • Someone who is overly conservative —your role is to maximize the growth of the renewal book. It’s essential to maintain respect for our customer relationships and contracts, while having a laser focus on driving growth in royalties for our studios.

Things to consider

You will love this job if…

  • You are a self starter, able to self motivate and are hugely excited by the opportunity to make dramatic change in a fast growing international company.
  • You want to build something new and not follow in someone else’s path
  • You are unafraid to test and try things and make many decisions quickly without perfect data sets and information.

You will not love not this job if….

  • You want to come into a role where there is an existing playbook and existing processes because this is a new role and you will have to invent them
  • You expect perfect data at your fingertips. We have all the data but no one has used it for this purpose before so you will need to take ownership of understanding and interpreting it.
  • You are a perfectionist looking for certainty and we don’t forsee that in this role.  There is no data set that will help you more than testing and measuring the results.  You will need to be our pioneer on this journey.

About MPLC

Founded in 1986 by a former vice-president of Paramount

Pictures and MGM. We now have offices in 28 countries with our

headquarters split between the UK and USA. Our UK home is in Eastbourne

Sussex, and in the USA we are based, as you might expect, in Los Angeles

next to many of the Hollywood studios that we represent.

Nearly 150 people work for MPLC, most of them dedicating

their time to explaining to businesses the need to become licensed and

then making that affordable, easy and quick.
