Automattic—the global leader in
publishing, messaging, and commerce software—is building the operating
system for the open web. Our goal is to democratize publishing,
messaging, and commerce so that anyone with a story can tell it, and
anyone with a product can sell it, regardless of income, gender,
politics, language, or where they live in the world. With a strong
commitment to open source, we have deep roots in WordPress, the platform that powers our business and 43% of the web.
We
own a diverse set of assets, deploy numerous business models, and offer
scalability from B2C to SMB and Enterprise customers in a fast-paced,
complex market. Our brands include WordPress.com, WooCommerce, WordPress VIP, Jetpack, Tumblr, Beeper, and a business incubator full of early-stage scale-ups.
The co-founder of WordPress and CEO of Automattic, Matt Mullenweg,
is driving a growth and expansion strategy that is still in its “early
days,” with a massive addressable market and exceptional upside. Today,
we manage the internet properties for renowned organizations such as
Salesforce, Porsche, Meta, Disney, and NASA. Over 4 million online
stores run on WooCommerce, which accounts for 27% of all online stores
globally, and more than 1 billion people use our products each month.
Automattic has established itself as a pivotal player in the digital
landscape.
We’re a distributed company with more than 1700
Automatticians in nearly every corner of the globe, speaking over a
hundred different languages. Unlike many companies, we are and will
always be 100% remote (we call it distributed).
This means that you can work from anywhere in the world, in any time
zone, leveraging collaboration tools and asynchronous communication.
Automattic’s
story would not be complete without mentioning our focus on mergers and
acquisitions. Over the past 17 years, we’ve acquired 35 companies,
including WooCommerce, Parse.ly, and most recently, Texts.com
and Beeper, our multi-channel messaging plays. These acquisitions now
represent some of Automattic’s largest business units and growth
drivers.
Our company is backed by some of the world’s most respected investors, spanning mutual funds, venture capital, sovereign wealth, and strategics. These include Salesforce Ventures, Insight Venture Partners, ICONIQ Capital, True Ventures, Wellington Management, BlackRock Asset Management, Alta Park Capital, Schonfeld, New York Times Company, and Tiger Global Management.
Our Board includes Sue Decker, who also serves on the boards of Berkshire Hathaway, Costco, and Vox Media, and Ann Dunwoody, the first female four-star general in the US Army who also serves on the Board of Fidelity Investments. Automattic is profitable, generates positive cash flow, and aggressively invests in future growth. It's a great place to build a career, learn, and contribute!
The Opportunity
WooCommerce, built on WordPress, is an ecommerce platform empowering anyone, anywhere, to sell anything. Partnering with global technology brands such as Stripe, PayPal, Google, TikTok, Pinterest, and Klaviyo, we seamlessly integrate their services to provide businesses with all the tools they need to run and grow their online stores. We’re one of the most popular commerce platforms on the web, powering millions of stores, including our own at Woo.com.
We’re seeking a highly skilled Senior Manager to join our FP&A team. In this role, you’ll develop a deep understanding of key business drivers and build sophisticated financial models to deliver insightful analysis. Collaborating closely with WooCommerce’s business leaders, you’ll ensure that our finance function supports and facilitates growth.
This opportunity is a unique blend of strategic planning, financial analysis, and operational execution. WooCommerce is one of the largest ecommerce platforms, but it operates like a dynamic startup, where every team member goes above and beyond to understand, analyze, and drive the business forward. If you’re passionate about diving deep into data, shaping strategy, and contributing to the success of a dynamic global business, we’d love to hear from you.

Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion at Automattic
We’re improving diversity in the tech industry. At Automattic, we want people to love their work and show respect and empathy to all. We welcome differences and strive to increase participation from traditionally underrepresented groups. Our DEI committee involves Automatticians across the company and drives grassroots change. For example, this group has helped facilitate private online spaces for affiliated Automatticians to gather and helps run a monthly DEI People Lab series for further learning. DEI is a priority at Automattic, though our dedication influences far more than just Automatticians: We make our products freely available and translate our products into and offer customer support in numerous languages. We require unconscious bias training for our hiring teams and ensure our products are accessible across different bandwidths and devices.
